Greater Lake Stevens Chamber of Commerce
unanimously passes Military Family Friendly Partnership Resolution

September 22, 2007 – The Greater Lake Stevens Chamber of Commerce unanimously passed resolution 03-2007 today declaring Lake Stevens “Military Family Friendly” and encouraging area businesses to become a military family friendly partner.

The “Military Family Friendly Partnership Initiative” is a project started by the Greater Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce to support military spouses and families that are often prejudiced by employers because of stereotypes such as their qualifications, availability and potential length of employment.

“I am excited to be part of this trend setting initiative. Our military members and their families deserve this. I encourage all Greater Lake Stevens Chamber of Commerce businesses to sign the non-binding agreement signifying that they are a military family friendly partner, and to put the decals in their business windows”, stated Chamber President Blair Anderson.

The City of Lake Stevens hosts a vast number of military families who are either permanently or temporarily employed in the Greater Lake Stevens area. “Military family members are well known for patronizing businesses that support their loved ones at home and abroad. What a great opportunity to highlight our community spirit”, added Anderson. The City of Lake Stevens will be considering a similar resolution at tonight’s City Council meeting.

For more information on the initiative, please contact the Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce at (360) 659-7770 or visit www.marysvilletulalipchamber.com
