Greetings Chamber Members — I am a little behind in getting my article
to Donna this month, but that turns out to be a good thing. April has been a
busy month for the chamber. Yesterday was our Leadership Breakfast with guest
speaker Terry Corbell. Terry is better known as “The Biz Coach” and is featured
on KOMO radio. He brought us a message on The Seven Steps to Higher Sales and
was very interactive with the audience. Some of the leaders in attendance were
State Rep. Liz Loomis, County Council Prez Dave Somers, County Councilman John
Koster, School Superintendent Dave Burgess, School Board Member David Iseminger,
City Council Member John Spencer, and Fire Chief Gary Faucett. I would like to
thank these leaders for their support of our chamber.
Earlier this month was our 3rd annual Showcase Lake Stevens. This year was
bigger and better then ever with close to 500 people in attendance. I always
look forward to this and I hope that those businesses that participated found it
of value.
On Monday the board met for our regular monthly meeting. There are some major
projects we are working on this year and I wanted to just highlight them. First
of all we are working to keep the Ironman Triathlon here in Lake Stevens this
July. This is a great event for our community with roughly 1,800 athletes from
around the world coming to our town. We are also working our current website and
marketing to make it a better resource for our community and those coming to
visit.
And finally we are beginning to investigate the possibility of a visitor’s
information center. If any of these projects are of interest to you please don’t
hesitate to call me.
I look forward to seeing you at our next monthly luncheon on May 19th.
Sincerely,
Doug Warren
