Members in the news

During the 2014 Aquafest festival, one ton of recyclable materials were collected and recycled by members of the local community.  Members of Elim Lutheran, organized by Bryan Hoult, were the 2014 “Green Team” working diligently to collect and recycle onsite.  Locally owned SVR Construction Services provided the festival with two “Recycle Only” dumpsters.  “Aquafest was one of the first local festivals to Go Green,” says 2014 Aquafest President Lisa Elder, “We want to thank the public for doing their part, Elim Lutheran for their outstanding service and SVR for their in-kind donation.”    Aquafest has received awards from the Washington Festival and Event Association honoring its commitment to the environment and the motto Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

Aquafest Wins Gold

During the 2014 Washington Festival and Event Association convention held in March, the WFEA awarded Aquafest with three Gold medals for the 2013 Lake Stevens Journal Insert, the 2013 Aquafest Event Brochure and the Vendor/Supplier Relationship with Foster Press of Lake Stevens.  The WFEA oversees festivals throughout Washington, and Aquafest competes against other events of the same size and budget.  2014 Aquafest President, Lisa Elder, says “I’m thrilled that Aquafest was awarded.  It recognizes the hard work of 2013 President Sue Fernald, the Aquafest Board and the value that we put on our relationships with sponsors and vendors like the Lake Stevens Journal and Foster Press”.  The Aquafest board is a volunteer organization and community members are encouraged to participate in planning the three day event held every July. Pre-events such as the 2014 Miss Aquafest Pageant and Aquafest Idol Contest begin in May.  The 2014 festival, “All American Aquafest” will be held on July 25, 26, 27 in downtown Lake Stevens and information can be found at
